"[Cortes] deserves defeat. The performance of Jaime Cortes has been so applling that [he] doesn't deserve another term in office. Residents deserve public servants who will inspire greater confidence. Beth Villarreal is the best choice over Cortes and two other challengers because she could provide a clean break with the precinct's clouded present. She lives in Oak Cliff and is a patrol and community relations police officer... We believe Villrreal would restore public trust."

We won!

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to elect me Precinct 5 Constable and thank you to every voter who voted.

There is not a Republican on the ballot in the general election, but I will not take office until after the November election.

I'll have more to say over the next few days and weeks as I prepare for transition into office.

In the meantime - Thank you for the trust and confidence you placed in me and the opportunity I now have to live up to that trust and work with you to make our neighborhoods a better place to live.

Together, we will improve our community.

Meet Beth Villarreal PDF Print

My name is Beth Villarreal. I am running for Dallas County Constable, Precinct 5. I hope to earn your trust and confidence during the Democratic Primary season, and your vote on election day, March 2nd, 2010.

From personal experience as a police officer and former deputy constable, I know the importance of responsive, and trustworthy law enforcement which is respectful of the community.

In addition to being a patrol officer, I have other responsibilities in my department. As community relations officer, I work with community leaders to plan National Night Out and other events which build mutual trust and familiarity between law enforcement officers and community members. As reserve officer supervisor, I am able to increase law enforcement presence in the community. As departmental recruiter, I recruit highly-qualified officers who are well-suited to community policing.

I have witnessed first hand the importance of serving the diverse community in our precinct - which includes Hispanic, African-American, and LGBT residents – each with their own community and culture. If elected, I will use my law enforcement and corporate management experience to improve performance and accountability in the Precinct 5 constable's office and on the street.

I believe leadership starts at the top with a constable who performs her duties effiectively and efficiently. I am committed to community service, professionalism, integrity, and justice. I will promote these same qualities in the Precinct 5 constable's office.

If you want a constable's office that provides professional, effective, and respectful service to our community, we must vote differently in the Democratic Primary on March 2nd, 2010.

That is why I am counting on your vote on March 2, 2010. I will confront the concerns and issues we face, work hard, and make the needed changes.

As your Constable, I will lead the constable's office with dedication and commitment to the community. We will be a team committed to top-notch service for you and the community, and build a constable's office of which we can all be proud.

Together we can reclaim and rebuild our community.

Thank You,

Beth Villarreal
